Baking Bothers: Best Way to Fill a Piping Bag

Q. What’s the best way to fill a piping bag? I always make a huge mess!

Abby Moule says: Hold the piping bag over your cupped hand and insert the nozzle, pulling the excess sides of the bag over your hand.

Then use a spoon in one hand to scoop the icing from the bowl and put it into the bag on your other hand until full enough to pipe.

Twist the bag until all air has been removed and then voila - mess-free piping can continue!
