Food Network's Thank You Day

0

To mark the UK's equivalent of Thanksgiving, we're holding Thank You Day on Thursday, 24th November.

When it comes to saying 'thank you,' people will always find the way that works best for them, and we want to encourage people to give thanks more often to the people that mean the most to them.

Despite the fact that Brits are renowned for their impeccable manners, new research commissioned by Food Network UK highlights that the words 'thank you' are fading out, with one in three Brits choosing to say 'cheers', as it's less formal.

Whilst the average person will say thank you nearly 5,000 times a year, 30% of us are more likely to throw in alternative versions like 'ta' or 'merci' when it is needed rather than risk sounding old fashioned.

Indeed, when Brits want to say their 'thank you', more than a quarter admit to regularly doing so through food, with the majority opting to cook a meal (23%) or bake a cake (15%) to show their gratitude rather than taking someone out to a restaurant.

Join us on Twitter and Facebook to tell us who you'd like to say thank you to and why. Don't forget to include #thankyouday in your tweet.

On Thursday, 24th November, we'll be airing a range of programmes on TV designed to inspire the nation with creative ways of showing thanks with delicious meals and goodies - from Barefoot Contessa's gingerbread cupcakes to unique thank you cocktails on Guy's Big Bite and Anne Thornton's thank you desserts.
