Ham and Cheese Quiche
Can you handle the entire tablespoon of hot sauce in this quiche?
- Pastry for one (10-inch) deep-dish pie
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
- 120g cooked ham, diced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 350ml milk
- 30g plain flour
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoon Original Tabasco® brand Pepper Sauce
- 120g Cheddar cheese, grated
Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a 10-inch deep-dish pie plate with pastry. Line pastry with foil and weigh down with dried beans. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove beans and foil and bake 10 minutes longer or until crust begins to brown lightly. Cool.
Melt butter in a pan over medium heat. Add ham, onion, and salt. Cook until liquid evaporates, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
Combine milk, flour, eggs, and Tabasco® sauce in a medium bowl and beat until well blended. Stir in ham mixture and cheese and pour into crust. Bake for 40 minutes or until lightly browned and set. Cool 10 minutes and serve with green salad.Recipe courtesy of Tabasco®
