Ingredients
For the tart apple sundae topping:
- 220g unsalted butter
- 2 1/2 kg tart apples peeled, sliced and cored
- 625g golden brown sugar
- 2 tbsps cinnamon
- 1 tsps nutmeg
For the chocolate syrup:
- 250ml water
- 200g caster sugar
- 3 tbsps chocolate powder (recommended: Forbes)
For the wet walnuts:
- 100g walnuts
- Simple syrup, to taste (recipe follows)
For the simple syrup:
- 125ml cup water
- 100g caster sugar
- To finish:
- 6 scoops ice cream, your choice
- 3 toppings, your choice
- 1 banana
- Nuts, your choice
- Wet walnuts, as needed
- Chocolate syrup, as needed
- Whipped cream, as needed
- 1 cherry
Method
How to make Banana Bucket
For the tart apple sundae topping:
Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Add the apples and cook until just soft, turning frequently. Turn off heat, add the brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss to cover apples.
For the chocolate syrup:
Bring the water to a boil. Mix sugar and chocolate together in a bowl, add water and mix.
For the wet walnuts:
Put walnuts into a bowl and add simple syrup (recipe follows), to taste.
For the simple syrup:
Combine water and sugar and heat until sugar dissolves;cool.
To finish:
Serve the warm apples over vanilla ice cream. Top with banana, your choice of toppings, nuts, chocolate syrup, wet walnuts, whipped cream, and finish with a cherry.
