Berries with almond cream and amaretti

  • 2 punnets strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 60ml orange-flavored liqueur (recommended: Grand Marnier)
  • 45g sugar
  • 250ml double cream
  • 1 tsp. almond essence
  • 12 amaretti cookies, unwrapped and lightly crushed
1) In a medium bowl add the berries and douse with the liqueur. Sprinkle with the 1/3 of the sugar and let the berries macerate.

2) In a large bowl, add the cream, the remaining sugar and almond essence. Beat the cream with a whisk or electric beater until the cream forms stiff peaks.

3) Serve the berries in dessert dishes topped with whipped cream and crushed amaretti cookies.
