2) In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt together using a fork. Cut in the vegetable fat until the mixture resembles polenta.
3) Add the cheese to the bowl. Stir in the buttermilk all at once, until just blended. Do not over stir.
4) Drop the mixture by tablespoonfuls, or use an ice cream scoop, onto a well-greased baking sheet. Brush the dough with the melted butter. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
