Gouda fondue
Ingredients
- 250ml dry white wine
- 1 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 350g Gouda cheese, (rind trimmed), shredded
- 115g aged Gouda cheese, (rind trimmed), shredded
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 1 pinch freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
For the dippers:
- Cubed or torn bread, boiled small red potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, and/or sliced apples or pears
Method
How to make Gouda fondue
1) Combine wine and lemon juice in a small pot over medium heat.
2) Toss together both cheeses and cornflour in a large bowl.
3) When the wine comes to a boil, slowly add the cheese and cornflour mixture, whisking continuously until smooth. Season with nutmeg and cayenne.
4) Transfer to a small slow cooker set to low and serve with the selection of dippers.
Fondue should keep on low setting for up to 1 hour.
